Tensor - Reaching New ‘Peaks’

Tensor launching their services in NZ
Thursday, September 22, 2022

Tensor is a new, fully-certified reconciliation participant, launching their services in the NZ retail electricity market with the purpose of transforming the energy industry.

Tensor - Your New Power Company For The Digital-Age

Tensor launched in the NZ retail electricity market in 2021. Since then, they’ve been working diligently. After countless late nights, and a lot of hard work, Tensor founder Marcus Sin said “we’re now fully operational, online, and open to taking on new customers.”

Tensor entered the energy market as they saw opportunity and potential. Tensor wanted to contribute to the transformation of the energy market so got to work.

“A few companies have made some way at advancing ‘innovation’ and leading the way for the energy transformation, but to date, there has been limited impact and focus in improving the value for consumers.”  Sin said.

“We’re entering the market to change this. Our core principle is that we focus on building consumer value for the future. We aren’t stuck on legacy systems or old ways of working. We’re focused on developing an energy industry that works for everyone and prioritises what matters most; the consumers.”

The key features Tensor’s service is simple:

1). Fair prices that stay fair

Our prices always reflect the true cost of power. We set our prices equal to our costs of getting power to you, plus a margin to help us make ends meet. We use the latest in cloud technology services to manage this on a daily basis.

2). Customer service when you need

We’re easy to get a hold of. Our online chat is available at any time and we’re constantly thinking of new ways to improve our value to you. We prioritise our customers above all else. We always ensure you’re getting a quality of service that we can be proud to stand behind.

3). Affordable bills at smarter rates

We’re forward-thinking. We supply only smart meter customers. We’ve built our own proprietary tech to make sure your data is always accurate. This means we only bill against what you actually use for the month. This also allows us to tailor our billing structure to meet your unique consumption profile.

How does Tensor work?

Tensor achieve their vision by providing consumers with choice, simplicity and innovation where energy, data and technology meet.

“We’re dedicated to the customer and user experience, and by tapping into data, technology and innovation to expand the traditional retailer service offering, we intend to create real value to consumers.” Sin continued.

“When you sign up with Tensor, you know you’ll be getting a first-class, digital-first service. Tensor’s technology stack is completely proprietary and independently-owned. So, when you sign up with us, you can rest assured that your data is safe and secure on our private and independently-managed network.”

“We also provide you with personalised options to meet your needs – whether it’s for your business, rental property, or family home. Whatever stage of life you’re in – whether you're moving to a new place, buying a property, or starting a business – we can talk through our range of options to find the right price, package and structure for you.”

No house or business is the same, Tensor understands this. They structure plans based on your daily consumption, and your overall commitment to them.

  • Keep it open term, and you’ll pay Tensor standard variable rates, but will be free to change your plan or exit at any time.
  • Fix for 12 months, and you’ll get a 2% discount.
  • Fix for 24 months, and you’ll get a 3% discount + a $100 credit to your account when you join Tensor.

Tensor is currently supplying power to the Auckland network (Vector and Counties Energy).
